Texas Filmmaker Chris Mano Continues Shooting Jon Flaming Documentary

My buddy Chris Mano and I drove down to a very remote part of central Texas after church on Sunday to visit an old freedmans cemetery I discovered years ago. Tucked back in the woods, this graveyard consists of the final resting places of former slaves from a nearby plantation that existed in the mid 19th century. There is also a small abandoned white clapboard church that is still standing just to the west of the cemetery. Large turkey buzzards circled overhead the entire time we were there - we soon found out why. After climbing up into the partially exposed church attic, we discovered two large blue turkey buzzard eggs resting together on the dusty wooden planks of the attic floor. They were beautiful to see. -

I am doing a large scale painting of this place and Chris is filming the entire process which will be part of the documentary that he is shooting on my work. -
